How Far in Advance Should You Order Your Wedding Dress?

It is one of the first questions every bride asks, and one of the most important to get right. Order too late and you limit your choices; order early and you can enjoy the process without any pressure.

Our recommendation: five to six months before your wedding

Every Aeternum gown is made to your measurements, and dresses are typically delivered within 12-16 weeks of your order. We recommend ordering at least five to six months before your wedding. That leaves comfortable time for the dress to be made and delivered, with a few weeks to spare before the day.

A simple timeline

• 9-12 months before: start browsing. Save the dresses you love and note the silhouettes and necklines you keep coming back to.
• 6-8 months before: book a video consultation to talk through your favourites, fabrics, fit and any details you would like adapted.
• 5-6 months before: place your order and submit your measurements. We check them with you before production begins.
• Weeks 2-12: your gown is cut, sewn and hand-finished, and we keep you updated along the way.
• Weeks 12-16: your dress is delivered to your door with free tracked delivery, wherever you are.

Why leave a little extra time?

Because your dress is made to your own measurements, most brides need no alterations at all. Even so, we suggest leaving a few weeks between delivery and your wedding. It gives you time to try the dress with your shoes and accessories, and to relax knowing everything is ready.

What if my wedding is sooner?

Do not panic. Our express service can often bring your gown forward in the workshop, subject to their schedule at the time of your order. The most important thing is to tell us your wedding date before you fall in love with a dress, so we can confirm what is possible.

Seasonal tip

Spring and summer are the busiest months for weddings, which means the busiest months for workshops too. If you are marrying between May and September, aim for the earlier end of our recommended window.
